Zumba For MS 2012

Multiple sclerosis stops people from moving, but in a defiant response, one Walk MS team is doing just the opposite. The G TEAM: Good People, Doing Good Things, is hosting its second annual Zumba for MS fundraiser for the 2012 Travelers Walk MS, presented by North American Power.

Join us at The Zumba for MS on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 1691 Café/Lounge in Bridgeport. Can't make it to the event but would like to donate please go to our team page. Any donation is welcomed.

Fundraising event for Multiple Sclerosis hosted by The G Team: Good People, Doing Good Things. Proceeds will go to benefit the Connecticut MS Society. We are moving for those who can't. Help shake it for a cause. The cost for the event is a $20 donation to the G TEAM's Walk MS fundraising efforts; includes Zumba instruction from area certified Zumba instructors: Diana Figueroa, Heatherly Law, Nina Merlonghi, Elisa Irizarry, Jackie Vasquez and Gabby Molina. Refreshments and raffle/silent auction to follow. Everyone welcomed, no experience necessary.   For purchasing ticket/wristbands or more information on the Zumba for MS fundraising event, contact Cynthia at  gteammswalk@yahoo.com. Also you can go to 1691 Café/Lounge at 1691 Main Street, Bridgeport, or call 203-908-3853 to register in advance.

We are doing the Zumba event again because what better way to keep people moving than by moving to music. We had a great response last year and are excited to have the opportunity to host it again this year. We are moving for those who can't. The event begins with a quick demo on basic Zumba steps and modification moves. Each instructor will then lead 20 to 30 minutes sets. At the end of the workout there will be refreshments and a drawing for prizes. The great thing about Zumba is that it can be modified to fit any level. As long as you can move some part of your body you can do it. Last year we had a few people with MS join us and everyone was able to participate at their own pace.

We started the G TEAM in 2007 after my husband Eddie was diagnosed with MS, so this will mark our fifth year participating in Walk MS and we really want to make it an exciting year. Our goal each year is to have a good time, and the more the merrier. We hope to continue to have more people join us for years to come. Feel free to like us on Facebook.

Last year, the 35-member G TEAM: Good People, Doing Good Things walk team raised $3,840 total for the 2011 Travelers Walk MS in West Haven at West Haven High School. The 2012 Travelers Walk MS, presented by North American Power, will step out from 12 sites statewide on Sunday, April 22.

Let's Move Forward Together

Currently there is no cure for MS. The money that is raised will be used to find the cause, treatment, and ultimately the cure of multiple sclerosis. The money is also used to provide education, information, direct financial support, and scholarships to individuals and families living with MS.

Please join us in the movement to do something about multiple sclerosis now!
